Whilst in Boston I presented three form proposals to Judson and his team. After much thought considering their comments I have decided to proceed with developing the 3rd option, which basically involves integrating the EEG tech into a familiar form: over-ear headphones. I once heard that when designing something new it’s best to use a familiar form, and I think this firmly falls into that category. People are already relatively comfortable with the gesture of putting on and feeling of wearing headphones, compared to the weird swimming cap sensation of the current model for the EEG Headset.
So my first step is to have a good look at other headphones on the market, build up a library of solutions to problems of adjustability, comfort, construction, joining methods and materials.
